BBQ Chicken – Sauce, Cooking Method, And Region Affect The Taste
BBQ chicken is one of the most popular foods in the country, though most popularly in the southern states. The taste is very distinctive, yet there are many variations to what people simply call “BBQ sauce”. Though there are endless variations of the sauce and several different ways to cook it, barbecue sauce is clearly defined.
When one says barbecue, they are often not talking about the method in which the chicken is cooked, but rather the taste of it. BBQ chicken is cooked with special sauce that can range from tangy to spicy, from sweet to sour. It all depends on the cook and the area of the country they are in or were raised in.
The south east United States is best known for its tangy sauces, thanks to the vinegar used in them. Tomato-based sauces are popular in the west. Each region has its own style, and if you have traveled outside of your state then you likely have tasted variations of the standard BBQ.
Clearly the best way to cook BBQ chicken is on a BBQ grill. A BBQ grill may not be practical so the next best thing is in the oven cooking. Baking BBQ chicken will also require a few minutes under the broiler to get the skin of the chicken a little charbroiled. Baking BBQ chicken in the over will work out fine as long as the chicken is turned throughout the cooking period and there is sufficient BBQ sauce used. The very first step in preparing any chicken recipe is to wash the chicken thoroughly and dry it.
Marinating the chicken in BBQ sauce, the chicken can be marinated for up to twenty four hours before cooking. The oven should be preheated before putting the BBQ chicken in the oven. The best temperature to cook BBQ chicken at is three hundred and fifty degrees. BBQ chicken cooked in the oven will still reflect the flavor of BBQ chicken. BBQ chicken can also be cooked on a rotisserie.
If you are not up to cooking the chicken yourself, you can also find restaurants that serve BBQ chicken. These can either be establishments that are dedicated to barbecue and barbecue sauces, or they can be standard restaurants. The smaller dedicated establishments often have the best BBQ because of their home-made recipes and dedication to making the best sauces. That said, sometimes standard restaurants are better for their sometimes lower prices. Each state has an array of local restaurants to try from, and finding them is as easy as asking around to get advice from other BBQ lovers.
