Breville Convection Oven

Breville Smart Oven Element IQ convection oven

I LOVE my Breville Smart Oven Element IQ convection oven. It’s made a big difference in the dishes I cook.

I’m assuming you know a convection oven is if you’re shopping around for one. In case you don’t, basically it functions as a replacement for a large conventional oven or a standard toaster oven. But the difference is that a convection oven is much much more energy-efficient (typically using less than half the energy and saving your electricity costs) and heats up much quicker than a conventional oven. It is also much more compact, allowing it to be used in tiny kitchens.

Convection refers to the transfer of heat through the movement of air. Basically there’s a fan inside that moves the heat around the oven in a uniform manner. What this means in plain English is that your food is more evenly and thoroughly cooked inside and out — you will taste the difference when compared to a regular oven. You can use a comeback in oven to cook anything from cupcakes, to waffles, to toast, to a turkey, to pot roast, to meatloaf — basically anything you can cook in a conventional or toaster oven.

And the Breville convection oven is simply a fantastic oven. Featuring a beautifully designed stainless steel case, the Breville Smart oven features 1800 watts of power and Element IQ technology that gives you precise heating control. Element IQ works by using quartz heating elements, but you don’t have to know about all the details. All you have to do is turn the knob to simply and conveniently increase or decrease the heat. It even remembers your preferences across different cooking sessions and displays all the settings on a brightly lit LCD screen.

The oven fires up quickly and reaches cooking temperature fast, and runs very quietly. Using the convection oven is a snap — you simply select one of 9 built-in cooking methods: Warm, Reheat, Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, and Cookies. Each method automatically selects the proper heat and length of cooking, so you don’t have to do any estimating of your own. And you can further customize the cooking methods to your own personal needs. Managing the different temperature zones of the oven in this manner ensures a perfect meal every time.

One cool function about the Breville convection oven is the Broil cooking method, which turns on only the overhead heat to brown food from above. Some other features are a wire rack that can be automatically ejected to safely remove hot foods, a crumb tray that is easily detachable, a thirteen inch pizza pan, a nonstick baking pan, and an enamel-coated broiling rack. Racks can be set at any one of three adjustable positions. The door seals magnetically to provide added safety, and features an oversized handle for easy opening. And the top of the oven itself can be used as an ad-hoc warming tray. Cleanup of the oven is a snap, especially when compared to a traditional in-wall oven.

Regarding the external dimensions of the Breville convection oven, it measures a compact 18.5 inches x 12.5 inches x 10.75 inches. Like I said, it really is beautifully designed, and you’ll want to show it off to your friends and neighbors. Foods come out perfect thanks to the customized cooking method settings at my disposal.

Note: You should not use any large appliances on the same electrical circuit as this oven, as it pulls up to 15 amps to operate. Also, you should have a few inches of clearance on each side of the oven too operate it safely.

Maybe you’re shopping for a convection oven because you’re tired of turning on your big oven all the time just to cook a small meal. If you’re looking for a convection oven right now, I don’t think you’ll find a better one available on the market — this is the perfect choice.
