Ever Try Pizza Dough Making?

Pizza dough making at home is something most people would not even consider. They’re gotten so used to ordering take-out or delivery that many don’t know it’s actually a very easy thing to do.

Five simple and inexpensive ingredients is all it takes to make a basic pizza dough. Flour water, oil, salt and yeast complete the list.

Pizza dough making doesn’t take a lot of time either. Waiting for the dough to rise takes the longest, but then you can be doing other things while this is happening.

Find a simple pizza dough recipe on the Internet and repeat the following steps:

First, get all your ingredients measured out in the correct quantities and set aside. It’s a real time saver and makes everything more efficient.

Add all your dry ingredients to a bowl and mix them thoroughly. Next add the water. The water optimally would be at or around 105 degrees, which is lukewarm. The yeast works best at this temperature.

Combine or “cut” the dry ingredients together until a loose pizza dough ball forms, then add the oil. Continue to mix until the oil is absorbed and all ingredients have been incorporated into the dough ball.

Place the dough on a flour-dusted surface. Add a tiny amount of flour to the dough ball as it will be quick sticky. Put some on your hands as well to prevent sticking. Knead the dough by pressing down and away from you. Fold it over on itself, turn 90 degrees and knead again. Keep this up for about 5 minutes.

When the dough begins to take on a smooth appearance and becomes very elastic, you’re done kneading. Form it into a round ball.

You can now lightly oil a bowl, add the dough ball and rotate it around until the ball is completely oiled as well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set in a warm place for approximately two hours or until the dough ball has doubled in size.

After the dough has risen, remove it to a flour-dusted surface and begin rolling it out to shape with a rolling pin. Unless you want a thick crust, most people roll in out to a 1/8″ thickness.

Once finished, gently pick it up and place it into your baking pan. Shape and trim the dough as necessary.

You did it! You made your first pizza pie shell! Pizza dough making isn’t that hard after all is it?
