Fast And Easy Waffle Recipe

Even somebody who has no experience in the kitchen can follow a simple waffle recipe. Everyone loves waffles, but nobody seems to ever actually make them. There are so many boxed mixes and pre-made frozen waffles that people figure it is just not worth the effort of making their own.

Throwing a frozen waffle into the toaster is certainly easier than making one from scratch, but nothing beats a nice, fresh homemade kind. Most waffle recipes are simple and use ingredients that we usually have on hand. Before you start, make sure you actually do have all the ingredients, just in case. There is nothing worse than getting started only to find out half-way through that you are short one egg.

One simple recipe uses flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, eggs and milk. Begin by mixing 8 ounces of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of sugar and just a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Set this aside and move on to the butter.

Next, melt 2 ounces of butter in the microwave or a small saucepan. Put the melted butter into a second mixing bowl. Add 3 eggs and cup of milk. Mix these ingredients thoroughly. Combine this egg mixture with the flour mixture and stir until there are no lumps. Now you have your batter. Allowing the batter to sit for 5 minutes will help flavor up the mixture. This is a good time to get the waffle iron hot.

When the iron is hot, cover it with a non-stick cooking spray. Use a ladle to pour cup of the batter into the iron. If you don’t have a ladle, a spoon can be used. Close the waffle iron and cook until waffles are a golden brown on both sides and slide easily out. This recipe yields 8 nine-inch waffles. To make fewer waffles, cut the ingredient list in half. Or for more waffles, double the amounts for each item.

You can build on this recipe by adding cinnamon, chocolate chips, blueberries, raisins or bananas. Pretty much anything you can think of, can go into the batter. Just be sure that everything is sliced up very small so that the waffles cook evenly and are easy to eat.

Looking to go healthy? Substitute some or all of the flour for wheat flour. Replace the butter with margarine. Consider using free-range eggs as well.

That’s it! If you don’t have a waffle iron, you may choose to make pancakes with this waffle recipe. Just pour the batter onto a frying pan instead. It will be just as tasty!
