How to Develop Your Own Acne Diet
An acne diet is certainly an appealing idea. We’ve all heard that chocolate gives you pimples. I believe we all have. If you think about it its not so far-fetched that by watching your diet you could prevent acne.
Although creating a good acne diet can be very hard. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual’s response to foods. There are guidelines, but your progress will largely be trial and error. Check your skin thoroughly every day. Write it all down. You could even take pictures a few times a week. If and when your acne diminishes stick to the diet plan you are on at the time.
Here are some guidelines to get you started on an acne diet:
1. Up your intake of protein. Some dermatologists even believe that protein intake is connected to having clear skin. An enzyme in contained in protein limits the creation of oil If you have oily skin, you know that it is very vulnerable to breakouts.
2. Stay away from carbohydrates. Don’t cut yourself off completely. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is the reason that junk food has the reputation that it causes acne. Actually, though, junk food is just high in carbs.
3. Try to drink green tea. If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. The best type of green tea is the kind you brew at home. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Green tea will limit the creation of androgen. Androgen is a hormone that can cause breakouts.
4. Limit your salt intake. Iodine is almost always located within salt. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.
In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. You already know what is in your beauty products if you have acne. Use oil free moisturizers and organic skin care products. These are the least likely to irritate your skin. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. Many dermatologists today believe that mineral makeup can really reduce breakouts and increase the results of your acne diet.
